Now Hiring - Social Media Specialist

Minnesota Family Council is looking for a highly driven and skilled Social Media Specialist based in the Twin Cities area who is ready to do the best work of his/her life. As the Social Media Specialist, you are a vital part of the Communications Team and will report to the Director of Communications (5-15 hours per week). The Social Media Specialist is primarily responsible for creating engaging content for MFC’s social media platforms by highlighting how the MFC team is engaging in the public square and educating MFC’s following on the issues of life, family, and religious freedom—thus sparking cultural engagement. This includes weekly content generation influenced by reports from the MFC team, social listening, and social media trends research. Subscription to MFC’s statements of faith and conduct is required.

Hours per week: 5-15

Timeframe: Immediate Hire

Nature of position: Hybrid

Contract position: Renewable Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Bring your best ideas: proactively pitch and create high-quality content for all MFC social media platforms

  • Show that you’re making a difference: deliver regular reporting and metrics analyses for all platforms to the communications team

  • Become better every day: continually strategize about how to improve content and reach; research and implement best practices to maximize efforts on all social media platforms

  • Don’t miss the details: monitor MFC’s social media following, responding to direct messages and comments promptly, tactfully, and accurately

  • Get out of the office: travel to MFC events and rallies as directed, capturing video and photo content

  • Keep it flexible: other duties as assigned, potentially including:

    • Assist in written communications as needed

    • Assist in communications planning

    • Post content on MFC website as needed

    • Create email content as needed

    • Design fliers, email banners, and other graphic design projects

Skills:

  • Superior in verbal and written communication

  • High grasp of social media best practices across platforms

  • Photography and videography

  • Graphic design, able to work efficiently in Canva

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must be responsible, flexible, and work well in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to meet deadlines, multitask across multiple ongoing projects, and take constructive feedback within a fast-moving working requirement is required

Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience in communications, marketing, or advertising (whether in the non-profit or for-profit sector) required

  • Writing/editing/proofreading experience required

  • Knowledge of and experience in best content creation & posting practices for Instagram, Facebook, X, and YouTube required

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising or equivalent related experience preferred

  • Graphic design experience with Adobe InDesign or similar software a plus

  • Video editing experience with Adobe Premiere Pro or similar software a plus

Pay:
